Bellapais
The small tranquil village of Bellapais is about 4 miles away from Kyrenia. To get there you will need to hire a car or use taxis as there are no public transport links to Bellapais.
There are many places of interest in and around the village in particular Bellapais Abbey. The old ruins of the Bellapais Abbey which was built by monks in the 13th centaury has fantastic views looking down towards Kyrenia and the sea. The Abbey has a museum, restaurant and cafe on site and on special occasions will host classical music concerts.
Not far from the Abbey is the "Tree of Idleness" where it is believed that if you sit under the tree you will be so relaxed you will not want to work.
Bellapais is a great place to explore and has many tiny streets to meander between. Or you can sit in one of the many coffee shops and just relax.
